The best surgeon I have ever known
I can't say enough about Dr. Coran. He is kind and patient with you, answers any questions you have in terms that you will understand, and he never speaks over your understanding. I referred a friend to Dr. Coran. She saw him and was glad she did. She refers people to him as well. I can't thank him enough for all he has done for my family and me. Thank you so much for your time and your help. You are a Blessing.

I would highly recommend Dr. Coran
Several prospective surgeons who had reviewed my MRI had suggested a minimally invasive procedure for my L4-5 fusion and disc replacement. Dr. Coran, who also does this procedure, advised against it fearing it would not provide the best long-term solution. I chose Dr. Coran as my surgeon because I had confidence in his diagnosis and he was willing to be honest with me, despite the fact that traditional open back surgery is more complicated and requires a longer recovery time. I am currently in my fourth post-op recovery month, and feel strongly that I made the right choice for both surgeon and procedure. Follow up visits have been helpful and informative. I would highly recommend Dr. Coran for any surgical procedure of this kind.

Up and kicking
In 2005 I had back surgery with Dr. Coran. I had an L4-5, L5-S1 fusion. I couldn't walk more than a 100 ft. without having to sit down. I had surgery and didn't know what to expect when I woke up. My wife was an SNICU nurse at the time, and she asked everybody who they thought was the best. Dr. Coran and another Dr. were mentioned. I saw the other doctor first, and his manner about how great he was sucked. But to his good, he ordered all the tests and I had them sent to Dr. Coran. The initial appointment can take a bit with Dr. Coran, as he is one of the best but still human. He gets time off too. We set a date and I had surgery about 4 weeks later. As I said, I didn't know what to expect when I woke up. The next day I was up and walking pain free, other than the incision. Dr. Coran told me if I was active I might need surgery again one day. Well almost 9 years later I needed to have my fusion extended to L3-4. Now my wife is an ex-wife. I still called her and it was decided that I still wanted Dr. Coran. This time I couldn't even sit. Well I'm sitting here typing this. All the old hardware had to come out and new put in. My ex-wife came to see me and let me know how serious this operation was. I told her I knew, but I knew how I came out of it the last time. I'm doing well. If you don't care for Dr. Coran, you at least have to have someone who only does spine. Not a brain today and a spine tomorrow. I have two friends that went that other route and they aren't doing well at all. And his staff! Gina, Carrie and Karen make you feel very much at ease. Thanks to everyone. P.S. I'm 60 this year and going to try break-dancing. (Just kidding Dr. Coran)
